I'm going to start 30 day shred tomorrow. People on here swear by it and you can watch the videos on youtube for free :) Getting the right nutrition is the hardest part. Log those calories and LOTS of water!

I started about where you are, I'm 5'4" and started at about 155. I'm now at 135 lbs. I started at 1200 but decided that I needed more. I eat 1600 net calories. Despite how much you eat, try to eat healthier foods and I recommend eating back exercise calories. I've done 30 day shred as well as other Jillian Michaels videos; they definitely help lose inches and you look and are a lot slimmer. Now, I'm doing Insanity and running outside when it's warm enough.
  • Hi :)

I'm 5,6 and 154 - also want to loose weight for my wedding, I'm getting married at the end of August 2013.

People say that you lose weight right before your wedding but I'm not going to take the chance thats why I joined MFP - I only started a week ago and I must say its been such a help :)

Good luck, we CAN do it :)

Will send you a friend request

Congrads on you upcoming wedding. Have you thought about cutting back on meats and trying alternative protein sources like beans and soy? I'm what some people call a flexitarian- I eat fish and chicken but very, very rarely-maybe 4-5 times per month, but it's the carbs, wine and vodka that gets me :o) It sounds like you just want to focus on being leaner and not just losing weight and limiting your meat intake is a very quick way to do so. Start with a Meatless Mondays (that's how I started) and try to work your way to 2-3 meatless days per week. This will also help you make healthier food choices.

P.S. Don't forget about protein shakes as an option, especially after a good workout.
Good luck and I hope this helps.

I'm going to agree with brwnsuga6's advice. Adopting a mostly-vegetarian, or "flexitarian," diet is not only cheaper money-wise (need that $$ for the honeymoon!), it's cheaper calorie-wise, too. Dry beans are dirt cheap, last forever and have a goodly amount of both protein and fiber; I bought a 5lb bag of pinto beans last October and I still have ~3lbs of them left. They take some planning--they have to soak for 8 hours or so, then they take an hour and a half-ish to cook--but it's not really labor-intensive, especially if you have a crock pot.

Steamed veggies are always a good choice, and sometimes the supermarket will have bags of frozen vegetables on sale (BOGO, 10 for $10, etc), so you can stock up. They can be cooked in the microwave - if they're not the fancy steam bags, just take out as many servings as you need and put them in a microwave-safe bowl with a few tablespoons of water, cover, and microwave for ~5 minutes until desired tenderness. I've made a bowl of steamed carrots/peas/corn for a snack before.
  • Congrats to all the upcoming brides!

My wedding is 40 days away!

I started my "healthier" way of life about four months ago.....
I'm 15 lbs lighter but more than that 16 inches smaller (mostly in the middle).
It has been slow, but I truly look like a different person. About a week ago everyone asked what I've been doing and the answer was simple "not much". Just getting back into the swing of things the way my life used to be.
I'm heavier than most of you, but about 5'4".

Get on a great fitness plan and commit to making healthier choices.

My first dress fitting is on Thursday so we'll see how big the dress actually is....

As my trainer says "Sexy Bridal Backs for Strapless Dresses".

    Good luck :)

P.S.- We're not honeymooning until August- so this shred is going to continue for sure!

Hey :) I am a part vegetarian ! I eat only egg and no meat ! I've been this way since the past 10 months! What I've noticed is that my fat is really very stubborn! I do a combination of cardio and strength training yet I don't seem to lose weight! And thanks for your wishes :)

    Congratulations on upcoming wedding.

Read "Thinner This Year" and follow the nutrition and fitness advice, use MFP to track your calories and exercise, buy a heart monitor and use it to ensure your workouts are effective (covered in the book).

Make sure you eat your workout calories....your body needs it and you will lose more weight and faster. Do NOT eat less and workout more. It will shut your metabolism down. Eat your workout calories and snack throughout the day to keep your metabolism high. Not big snacks but just enough like yogurt or granola bars or veggies.
