Am I really getting what I ask for?

So lately I have been doing well trying to maintain my shape but not on fitness pal! This is the first time I signed up yippee
Here's to success for weeks to come..
Anyway, I went into starbucks today as I am a regular coffee drinker, I know its not healthy but its my treat, and I asked for
a skim latte and I was watching the girl make my coffee and she was being very secretive swapping the silver pouring cups
filled with milk. I was sure she wasn't giving me skim milk...
Do all cafes work like this? How can we know we are getting what we ask for in any meal!

Make it yourself at home with ingredients you produce yourself?
  • I had thought about that but I am never home as I travel and work alot overseas.

I can taste the difference so I usually ask them to make it again. If it's not somewhere you go regularly it's worth making a huge fuss. I can't stand whole milk, I only drink trim/skim so it makes a huge huge difference to me

I've worked in many different coffee shops including a few different chains and I would say you're probably getting what you ask for about 2/3 of the time. I think most places are very concerned with not keeping you waiting so they will probably try to give you skim unless that means you have to wait for whatever reason. Also, in my experience if you run out of skim customers will usually take whole but complain a whole bunch so most people I know would just give it to them without asking to save the whinging. My experience means I watch like a hawk if I order coffee somewhere now to make sure I get what I want!

Microwave one cup of unsweetened almond milk (I use the vanilla one) and add 2tbsp of torani sugar free syrup (whatever flavor you prefer, but again, I love vanilla so I go with that) and add 8oz of coffee. It's only 42 calories and delicious.
