PALEO DIET HELP

I'm thinking of cutting out breads completely, but no rice. Not so much of a strict to the tee paleo diet, but something around that. Rice is a big part and fruits in my diet. I'd appreciate some help, tips. Thanks!

Check out "NerdFitness.com" it's one of my favorite sites for info on paleo and health in general.
There's a great blog from one of the writers, Stacey, about how she went paleo, one step at a time.
I'm doing the same, for example, this month, I stopped drinking milk, next month, I'm not eating dairy *except butter. Etc... good luck!0 -

Alright, thanks! I want to try it out, not become a lifestyle because I will eventually eat a sandwich or so, but try it out. Thanks again, I'll be requesting you on here!0 -

Just remember that there is quite a bit more to eating Paleo then just cutting out rice/bread. It means not eating dairy, soy, processed foods, legumes/peanuts, corn, and added/refined sugars. If you do decide to give Paleo a go, make sure to do a bit more research before jumping into it.0 -
White rice is actually acceptable as a "safe starch" in the Paleo community. Well, not the "low carb" Paleo'ers, but the "just eat real food dammit" groups. So go for it.0

Yeah, I've been doing some research towards it, but don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to dive head first into a straight paleo diet. But gradually ease myself into it.0 -

This^ It's about health. Please don't trash the lifestyle later on if you only try it half heartedly, have lots of "cheats" and then find it's too "restrictive". For those of us who have serious health issues and are more concerned about optimal health than just weight loss, this lifestyle is awesome. I enjoy a high fat, low carb version of primal/paleo and not only do I feel awesome, the health problems are completely gone, and my weight loss has been totally effortless.
There's lots of information out there on this lifestyle. Check it out. Then, when you want to hear our specific experiences, join the paleo/primal forums. The misinformation (from people who haven't even TRIED this lifestyle), disrespect and ridicule that paleo/primal people often get in the general forums just gets frustrating.
Edit: it is my opinion that you can't just "ease into" this way of eating (in regards to eliminating grains and legumes, other aspects, possibly). You won't experience the benefits that come along with it, and make the restrictions worth it, if you aren't committed to eliminating the grains. Most of us don't even know that it's natural to feel GOOD, not sluggish, bloated, tired, etc. Even just a commitment of one month will give you an idea if it's the right thing for you. Someone mentioned rice as being paleo, that's the first time I've seen that, and I completely disagree, but it's certainly less harmful than wheat.0 -

I have to agree with you man, I guess if I'm not going to commit to something, I shouldn't even trying it, seeing is I won't achieve the full benefits of it.0 -
I don't think it would be a bad thing for you to try it out. I'm not paleo, just been looking into it. Currently doing a diet reset of 21 days called Ignite from Dailyburn.com (my fav workout site!): No soy, dairy, gluten (includes wheat, rye, and oats), sugar, artificial sugar, and alcohol. If I cheat, I have to start over. At the end of 21 days I get to have 10-15 'cheat' points per week, depending on how much exercise I get. The cheat points are 1 pt per serving of one of the 'Evil Six'. So a piece of pizza is 2 pts; 1 for the cheese, 1 for the gluten. (Dominoes is now doing a gluten free pizza, expensive but it rocks.) It's been interesting. Pretty much, if a recipe is paleo I can eat it. Been experimenting baking with coconut and almond flour. It's been awesomely interesting. There are breads you can make that would technically be paleo. Some good sites to check out are Elana's Pantry, paleo omg, and civilized caveman. (There are lots more!).
I've been doing this for about three weeks, have cheated a little. I find that I feel physically the best when sticking to the diet.
I hope this helps you on your journey. Good luck!0
