23 years old time to stick with it!

I have aspirations to enlist into the United States Marine Corps and with that big decision comes physical responsibilities. I have to be able to do 5 pull-ups and 50+ crunches in 2 minutes. I also need to be able to run 1.5miles in under 13:30. Today I'm going to start P90X. I'm at 1 pull-up and probably around 40 crunches. I weigh 216lbs looking to get back down to 165lbs. I have to get in to shape because I could be in recruit training by the end of the year. I'm going to attempt to use myfitnesspal to stay on top of my diet and exercise! :) Wish me luck and motivation!

    Get it done recruit!!!
  • Thanks! I've lost the weight before about 2 years ago so I know I can do it! I just let my ITBS injury get the best of me and gained the weight back but now it is time to get my life back on track! :) I'm pretty excited about it this time since I have learned to run properly without aggravating my IT Band. I ran 1.5 miles today a 9:33 min/mile avg. pace. First mile was 9:16 but the end slowed down a bit. And I finished at 14:30. I've got a lot of work ahead and if I stick to my diet and keep my P90X going I'll get there in no time! I just plan on getting more involved in the MFP community to facilitate a healthy support structure and some conviction to stick to it.
