I have never liked the taste of yoghurt, but it appears everywhere in diet meal plans and recipes. I dont like milk all that much either, and literally only dampen my cereal with skimmed milk....but i wish i did like it, i hear reports saying the specific calcium in dairy has great benefits. Any ideas or suggestions to try and up my (low cal) dairy intake? Is there a type of yoghurt that is less yoghurty tasting that maybe i could try?

Maybe mix it with stuff?
I eat it with everything from avocado to protein powder. Mixing it into guacamole is a good way. I eat the greek kind, which is thicker.
You can also mix in sugar free preserves and freeze it into ice cream if you have an ice cream maker.0 -
Blend it into a smoothie with some frozen fruit (maybe some protein powder too) and fruit juice.0

You can mix plain Greek yogurt with garlic and chives for a really great veggie dip. Add shredded cucumber and its great on grilled chicken or steak pita sandwiches.0

There is no magic food. If you don't like yogurt, don't eat it. Just find out what nutrients it supplies and find alternatives.0

There are a lot of different brands and types of yogurt on the market. I personally can't stand any of the light ones because they are too watery for me. I like the full fat fruit on the bottom types or certain Greek yogurts. If you really want to try to eat it, I'd just start buying one of each kind until I ran out of new ones to try, or found one I liked.
With the milk, there are plenty of alternatives if you don't like milk. You can try the different fat percentages for starters. If the milk just doesn't do it for you, there is soy, vanilla soy, almond, coconut, and rice milks, There may even be other alternatives. I would just try different ones until I found one that I enjoyed.0 -
Almond milk is your new best friend.
I drink the unsweetened stuff, mostly because I can't justify buying two kinds of almond milk and I can put that kind in my cereal while vanilla almond milk is delicious and very easy to drink straight and perfect for shakes but is way too sweet for cereal although I've used ti as a replacement in baking with great success
And it has more calcium than cows milk does. And it tastes WAY better
As for yogurt, I was never much of a fan until I discovered Dannon Greek Yogurt, I like vanilla the best, I normally mix it with a little granola, on its own it's 80 calories and 12 grams of protein. I love how rich and creamy it is! And it has has a better flavor than other yogurts I've tried.0 -
I hate milk too. There are lots of nondairy calcium sources out there-- almonds, broccoli, dark leafy greens, tofu, calcium-enriched OJ.0

I hate milk and natural yoghurt on their own but with other things I am fine.
I mix mint and cucumber in to Greek yoghurt and have it alongside cajun spiced baked chicken breast, serve it with a little wild rice and it's delicious.
Great in smoothies but also in savoury dishes to add creaminess like curry or soup. Put a dollop on top of a bean or beef chilli and sprinkle with chopped chives and spring onions.
I eat a teeny bit of cheese nearly every day - either in an omelette or parmesan on a poached egg or on baked chicken.0 -
Thank you for the dairy based suggestions everyone, i think i will try a greek yoghurt and mix it with some protien shake, see how that turns out.
Avocado is next on my list, i've only ever had it on salad and only ever thought if it as too mushy for a salad and a bit gag worthy. Seen on here it has been used in a smoothie and a mousse-type desert ... going to try that as they are supposed to be smooth and creamy!0 -
I highly suggest the frozen yogurt (make it yourself)! It's so yummy. I also do not like yogurt when it is simply refrigerated. I am however thinking of using it to replace sour cream and mayo in some recipes. Like others say, Greek seems to be highly recommended for this. Good luck!0
