teeny but major to me success

So my best friend took me shopping this past weekend to stores that I've NEVER gone in to. I was really hesitant, knowing that nothing in that store is going to fit me, but I went in. She's pulling clothes off the racks and I"m thinking to myself "yeah right, maybe once I lose another 30 pounds" but I ended up in the dressing room with all of them. I tried on clothes that were L's and XL's without any numbers before them, and they fit. :-) I tried on a size 16 skirt and it was too big, but I bought it anyway :-) ( I did try on the 14 and if breathing wasn't an option, I would have bought it ) Hello??? I haven't worn a 14/16 since high school!!! Yeah, me! She had me try on shirts that were more fitted and I was unsure of them. She said "I think it looks great, and you just don't know what your body looks like since you've been hiding them under baggy clothes for so long" and she's absolutely correct. So I"m working on my self image as well as getting to a healthy weight.
Two days ago I went in to a store that I had shopped in from time to time and found a skirt that I absolutely 100% loved. They had a size 16 ( which is the smallest size they carry) and tried it on. It was way too big. I couldn't get away with wearing it, so I put it on the rack and walked out. I was feeling a little sad about not getting that skirt, but the feeling of never shopping there again because the clothes are too big is a milestone thought for me.

Congratulations on everyone's hard work and efforts - it will all pay off! I also gave myself a nice round of applause for my success

Oh what a feeling! Just think in a few months you will be smaller. I bought pants during spring break and they are falling off me. If it wasn't for my hips I couldn't wear them. They are designer pants without elastic! Have to wear them at least until I finish off the school year. Fitted clothes...hum I like the sound of that. CONGRATULATIONS:flowerforyou:

Awesome! Congrats! There is nothing teeny about that success! I want nothing more than to be able to buy clothes at regular stores. I love Lane Bryant and Avenue...but if I could grab a cute skirt off the regular rack at Target, I would be ecstatic!!!

    You're doing great!

I have lost about 30 lbs and most clothes still dont look very good on me. I was feeling pretty bad about yesturdays shopping trip until I read this! I feel a lot better and know I will get there in my own time. Thanks for posting! You've brightened my day and gave me a little boost of inspiration!

Great job and what a great friend. sometimes it takes others seeing us for us to start seeing ourselves. You are very lucky to have a best friend like that.
