I joined MFP last January 17th. I was deteremined to follow through with my news years resolution to lose weight once and for all. I lost about 15 pounds and gained all of back except for 2 by April. Feeling discouraged, my mom and I decided to try Weight Watchers for the accountability. Of course I couldn't give up MFP so I continued to log my food and exercise and browse the forums for info. Fast forward to today, and I am down 90 pounds. I reached my goal of 135 this morning, actually weighing in at 134.7
It's been quite the journey. I never had weight problems until I was about 13. I was diagosed with PCOS when I was 19. I pretty much lived on fast food and carb loaded foods such as chips, pizza, pasta, and little debbies. Once I hit college, I was quite depressed and I would binge. Once or twice a week I would go to my favorite mexican restaurant and order a big beef quesdilla and a full bag of chips and salsa, and I would take it home and eat it all, making myself so full I was miserable. I will say this though, changing my eating habits wasn't as hard as I expected. Once I started eating better, I in turn felt much better. I think my hardest thing was giving up diet coke actually. Once I had set my mind up that I needed to lose weight, then something just clicked in me and I stopped making myself so full and miserable. I don't ever want to feel that way again.
I haven't been perfect through all this. I eat fast food once a week. I'm just smarter about it now. I aimed for 1200 calories a day. When I went a little less or more I didn't beat myself up about it. I also never plateaued, which is surprising to me. I work-out everyday for at least an hour. Usually it's one of my Leslie Sansones dvds and then I take my dog on a walk. I aslo like to swim, do wii Zumba, and bike for exercise. I don't have a gym membership, and don't plan on getting one. I listen to my body and if it says I need a rest day, then I take a rest day. Now I have to move forward with maintenece, excited and nervous at the same time!
