Too much fiber? How big of a deal is it really?

I seem to eat too much fiber everyday, I'm curious as to if this is really something I should be concerned about. I tend to choose foods that are high in fiber because they fill me up. Any suggestions/ideas/thoughts?

It's not a really big deal IMO. You'll know if you have too much fiber though...it can cause some gastrointestinal distress. I typically eat between 20 and 35 grams a day in fiber....my stomach usually lets me know if I've indulged too much.

I eat an average of 55 grams of fiber (tons of fruits, veg, some unprocessed wheat germ and bran) a day and have no issues. Too much fiber can become an issue if you don't drink enough water. I've heard that excessive fiber intake (100+ grams) over a long time can prevent your body from absorbing some nutrients.
