Ok I have a question. My husband and I are in the process of remodeling our home. we currently have 2 full baths. One of them is connected to the master. however the tub that is in it needs to be replaced. It is only 54 inches long. We do not have the money to add on to our home to make the bathroom bigger so our options are to either put in another 54 inch long tub or build a shower. However, I do not want to bring down the value of the home.

So my question is.........if we take out the tub and put in a shower only instead.....will this take away some of the value? or should we just put in another 54 inch long tub

We are looking to sell our house so thus resale is a big factor in what we do.

Is it the only tub in the house? I wouldn't care as long as there was at least one tub for me somewhere!!!

no we actually have two bathrooms....the other bath is in the hall and is a soaker tub like while the master is a small tub(which is what needs to be replaced)

Personally, I would notice there's no tub in the master... and I'm a guy. Ladies typically want that tub for relaxing, in the master, even if it's small. That's just my opinion if I was looking at a house to buy.

I used to watch those home remodeling shows.... They quoted average bathroom remodels at around 10-15k. Aside from the kitchen, most expensive room to redo.

lol I know what you mean. But our projects need to be done. We are looking at trying to sell our house so that I can apply to ph d programs all across the us instead of being land locked. When we move we'll rent till after I'm done and have a ft position somewhere and than look for a home...........next home I swear is not going to need reno like this one....I am tried of all this and would like a break

Good luck with the Ph D program! Sounds like you have got a great plan. Yeah, reno's sound more fun and manageable when it's NOT your primary residence. haha (just dreaming though)

well now or latly when he gets it in his head to start a new project before completing the one he is on I remind him that we are trying to get the house ready to sell and need to finish before moving on to something else so been a bit better but not much
