Not in the way most people define it. I believe that our personal choices are what ultimately decides our "fate". However, I think that certain choices do lead to inevitable consequences, some good, some bad.

In the end, its all about the choices we make along the way.

I believe we make our own "fate". I've seen people who were successful in school, had a great marriage, built a great business, had lots of luxury, and then commit suicide. With all the good that was happening, you would think that their "fate" was to live happily ever after. And I've also seen the opposite.
As mentioned above, it's the choices we make that lead us to where we go or end up.

    Fate, no.

    Karma, yes.

I like to think that I get to make my own choices, but that if I mess up, Karma is going to teach me a lesson. Sort of like when you insult someone and 30 seconds later, you walk into a fence post. I believe in that.

This is a tough one for me. Sometimes I think, yes, of course I do believe that things are meant to happen. What about love? Was that person meant to walk into your life? What about the notion of "the one". I hear and read about people saying "i knew the first time I saw him that I was going to marry him". That blows me away. That makes me think that some things are meant to be.

No such thing as predestiny, fate or karma. Your past and current actions determine your present and future circumstance.

In some instances you may be in a certain place at a certain time and things you have no control over may affect you, but that's as close to karma or fate as I am willing to accept.

I believe we all create our own fate. Especially in regards to relationships. The "one", ends up being the person you decided to love no matter what. Relationships are hard work. Always. When they work, it's because both people made a choice to love the other 100% every day.

What do you mean by fate? Some things are "meant to be"? By whom?

I knew the minute I met my husband that there was something between us. But I do not believe that he is the only man in the whole wide world who could make me happy or who I could fall in love with.

Bad things happen as well as good things - is that fate too?

Nope. Dont believe in fate. But I have found that the harder I work, the luckier I get.

There are those who say fate is something beyond our command. That destiny is not our own, but I know better. Our fate lives within us, you only have to be brave enough to see it.

I just mean anything. There are many ways to look at fate, bad things too of course. I was just curious what people's opinions were.

  • I believe that everything happens for a reason.
  • "Fate"/"karma"/"Whatever" are all just superficial and intellectually dishonest ways to look at reality.

There is not a single good reason to believe that "Karma" or "Fate" exists, and I'm glad that there isn't.

In all seriousness... my fiance is about ten years older than me. We met in college, because he started later after serving in the navy for six years.

One day, in the "flirting" stage, we were talking with a group of friends in a lounge at school. "Kindergarten" came up, and he mentioned he went to school out of state and named the place. I said, "Huh, I went to kindergarten in a different state, too... I don't remember the school, just that my teacher's name was Mrs. Picco." His teacher's name was Mrs. Picco, too.

Lo and behold, we went to the same kindergarten. In a different state. With the same teacher. Ten years apart.

We also lived in the same neighborhood; his family moved out the same year mine moved in. We played in the same creek, knew the same people, our families went to the same church, etc. All in a different state than the one we met in, years and years later.

Do I think this is fate? No. I think it's a stunning coincidence... and at the same time, we were probably shaped in a similar manner with the place we grew up, our reaction to a new place, etc. etc., so we were attracted to each other (and it's likely there were people with similar backgrounds around), but he stuck out the most.

    But it's a good story.
