The more I eat, the hungrier I am!

I started at 1200 calories in April before I knew better and gradually increased. I was eating 1450 calories for a few months and was doing fine. Now I've increased my calories to 1650 and I'm finding that I'm hungrier now (after eating all my calories) than I was before even?!?

For reference, I'm 5'1'' and have reached my goal weight of ~ 100 lbs so I'm just maintaining. I exercise 5-6 days per week and yes, I calculated my TDEE. My calorie burn, even in high intensity workouts is low according to my polar HRM (I burn ~ 350 calories in 60 minutes of a cardio kick boxing class) so I don't think I am able to go higher.

Is this normal??

Thanks!
Jen

You are probably hungry because your diet is very carb heavy. If you start to add more protein and fats, your satiety should increase. You are probably just experiencing spikes and declines in insulin causing hunger.

I don't think my diet is really carb heavy? Did you look at my diary or were you saying that in general? I get protein at every meal, and I don't really eat pasta, breads, etc....although I do eat a ton of veggies. I do tend to avoid more calorie dense foods since I definitely prefer to eat a large volume so I prefer a big bowl of broccoli over a tablespoon of peanut butter for instance.....

Yea, I did look at your diary. Fat is barely above 20gs per day, protein is ok at 125g. To add some perspective, I am eating 1000 calories more than you and we are about the same amount of carbs. It's not to say that having that many carbs is bad, but for most people carbs fill you up quick but will leave you hungry fairly often.

Also, are you trying to lose weight or maintain? What are your goals? It's quite possible based on you being active, you can bump your calories up another 200-400 and still be able to lose weight. Most active women I know are eating 1700-2100 calories. And if they want to maintain, it's more around 2100-2500.

I'm trying to maintain, not lose any additional weight. Thanks for looking - I'll try to figure out what to add to increase fats vs. carbs. I'm not sure if I can increase more - I'm small and the calculators seems to suggest otherwise but I may try it in a few weeks and see what happens!
