Am i crazy? Would you do this?

    do it, went back to uni myself last year at 52, working and raising a family as well..so what? its hard rewarding and will open up my horizons when i graduate, It doesn't matter what other people thin, give then five minutes and everyone will be proud of you and rooting for you.
    My advice is do what YOU want not what other people think you should do.

    30 is soooo young. I am 44 and sure wish I would have done something more. If you can afford it, and your instinct is to do it, then go for it. Just remember the later you start working & saving, the later you get to retire, that's the only thing. If you'll make a lot more, it can offset it.

    You are not crazy. The older you get the harder it is to go back to school. I'm still trying to motivate myself to go back for a masters.

    I don't think its crazy at all. Going back to school is great! I just finished my bachelors 2 years ago and am considering going back and getting my masters and i'm 30.

    ^This. Four years will pass regardless of what you do with them. You'll be close to 30 then anyway. Do you want to look back from the same position you're in now and wish you'd done something with them? I applaud you for making tough choices now and hope you enjoy the ride!

    As anyone else who's posted here can attest...

    You will experience times where you will regret the decision to go back to school.
    You will experience the relief of making it through another class.
    And in the end you will experience the pride of achieving a goal you worked so hard for.

    If you want it, do it. It's as simple as that.

    Edit: I should add that at 27 I'm in my last semester of my MBA with a double concentration in International Business and Finance. I am thrilled that it's over and that I get to have my social life back. But on top of the academic learning, I learned a lot about myself, about what I want out of life, about who my friends are, and what I'm capable of. I'm a force to be reckoned with.

    I'm forty and it wasn't until I was in my mid thirties that I decided to get my degree and try the career path I'd always wanted to do before finding my husband and having a family delayed me. It took me 8 years of part time study and work to get that degree but I'm glad I did it. I'm quite tempted to start studying again but I'd have to give up holidays to fund it. You only get once life, live it as you want and make each day count, that's my motto now that I'm nearing middle age :)

    Yes. I went back to school twice in my 30s, for two different careers. I am now very happy as a court reporter. Financially, now I'm behind where all my friends are, which bugs me, but you've got to work your way up. And I discovered that being happy in my job is more important than the money (although don't get me wrong, I like making money!).

    Those who do not continue to learn and improve each day, do not truly live. You are not crazy. You are living! Enjoy. The pitfalls will be short-lived and the benefits will give to you for the rest of your life! You are amazing. Congratulations!

    This is true, i can be 30(still very young) and going places or i can be 30, stuck where i am, and most likely bitter about it. Thank you!

    Go for it now! I am 37 and I am back in school, but I can only go part time because I'm a single mom and I have to work full time. I joke and say that I hope to graduate from college before my daughter graduates from high school (she's 5), but really it is going to take me quite some time to finish. So no, you are absolutely not crazy! Do what makes you happy! Good luck!! :smile:

    I will probably be 34 by the time I finish my PhD, making at least 10 times less than what I can be making right now with my experience, education and knowledge. After living in US for over a decade, I am currently living in a country (Saudia) where "crimes" as such drinking alcohol are punishable by death.

    Ask yourself, are your goals worth it. If you think they are, then go for it and do not regret your decision. If you think your education isn't worth it, then don't. I am currently happy making enough money to get me by and that is enough for me.
