I just can't get into yoga..

...and I have no idea why! I've tried it many many times, and I just end up getting REALLY bored. Am I the only one with this problem? Have other people dealt with this and learned not to dread yoga days during P90X?

don't feel bad red, I can't either. So I compromise, I do about 15 minutes of good solid stretching before and after my workouts. And I add a strong core workout 3 days a week, it may not be yoga, but it get's the job done. Not everyone's cut out for yoga, my mind goes way to fast to slow down that much for 60 or 90 minutes. I need activity to take my mind of my very stressful and demanding job.

Put it this way, I had a 10 day vacation recently, and it took me 6 days just to stop thinking about work when I was out by the pool. It's horrible sometimes.

I don't know why either. My first round of P90X, I dreaded Yoga X but did it dutifully anyway. I started a second round, and I decided to substitute X Stretch, which made it much more enjoyable for me. I'm doing a third round, and I'm doing the Yoga X this time, and I am now loving it! Go figure.

I think there's great stuff to be gained by doing Yoga X. I also think there's something to be said for not dreading your workouts.

I appreciate that it is challenging...but gosh it bores me to tears. I am more of an active exerciser if you know what I mean!

While I am not doing P90X, I did take my first yoga class yesterday and fell in love. It was the fastest 75 minutes of my life it seemed. I was worried though, because I am a very high-strung type"a" personality and didn't think I would mesh well in it. Have you ever tried it in a class setting or just at home? Of course, it just may not be for you either, just like I absolutely despise step workouts :).

Yeah not a huge Yoga fan here either. I used to like it a lot when I was in college but I'd rather do other things now.

I can't either... I get bored or frustrated and feel like I haven't had a good workout. I think it has a lot of benefits... but it's not my cup of tea.

One of the things that Yoga X lacks is the breathing ... Tony tells you to breathe but there are certain places where you're supposed to inhale and exhale to get in and out of various poses. The entire sequence is supposed to flow with breath and yoga X just doesn't. The push-ups especially between up-dog and down-dog really ruin what's supposed to be a beautiful transition.

I've been doing Rodney Yee in its place (Power Yoga Total Body). It's 60 minutes and goes through most of the beginner and intermediate vinyasa's that you'll find in Yoga X. It's a completely different experience though. His Power Yoga for Flexibility is also a good one, about 25 minutes and I'll do that routine whenever I feel like I need an extra stretch during the week. Yoga Zone also has some great workouts; they even have one created for weight-loss, hehe.

One thing to keep in mind is that Yoga is the mid-week recovery period. So if you're doing any swapping, don't pick something intense or add another workout just to burn more calories. Even Insanity has a recovery workout in the middle of the week.

I feel so much less guilty for choosing not to do those push-ups now. Thank you!

Ya know.. I did P90X last year. The Yoga is the longest of all the DVD's. I know exatcly what you mean. But I found the Vinyasa (spelling?) the best part of that whole workout. Totally loved it and looked forward to it each week.

    BUT

The still poses.. no. I got bored. And after the first 45 minutes doing Vinyasas, you're totally drenched in sweat (at leats I was) which justified me skipping the still poses.

So first 45 minutes = YAY!!
    Last 45 minutes = BOO!!

If you find the yoga "boring" and "too slow," all the more reason to do it. Just sayin'. That is what a yogi would tell you.
Still, if you really hate it you hate it. Don't do it!

I LOVE yoga! I do it at a class with yoga teachers. It's very easy to do any pose wrong. I have only herd wonderful things of P90X, so I'm sure they explain things appropriately. The first time I went I was like "this is lame. I'd rather be running." And then I left and felt so euphoric. The intense stretches are soooo needed for the person working out. Even if you hate it, your muscles will thank you.

The only yoga I ever really enjoyed was Namaste yoga. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7drLSbrHft0 You can order the DVDs from their website. I love the locations, the music, and the calm voice over narration.

I took my first Yoga class last week and actually enjoyed it. It's all about breathing and once you get that down you relax besides the mat I was using smelling like feet I really enjoyed it and probably will add it to my routine atleast once a week- It was a great stretch for my muscles.
As far as P90x yoga I hear a lot of people complain about the yoga.. isn't it like 90 minutes why don't you just cut it down to 45 minutes
