Everyday I bring a small container of cottage cheese for my afternoon snack at work. This afternoon I grabbed my snack from the shared fridge and was halfway through before noticing that it tasted a little different because it was in fact someone else's cottage cheese. I left a note on the cleaned out container offering them my cottage cheese and a Larabar as a token of apology.
I know it's not that big a deal but I felt so embarassed.
Any ideas on how I could have handled that situation better?
Stories of similar goofs are also welcome.

When I had a day off once, they had a temp in to cover me.
The next day back at work I thought I'd eat my chocolate bar which was in my drawer, I took it out and a big bite had been taken out of it, I was so pissed off.0 -
