Losing motivation

So I've been at this for a while now and I find I am losing my motivation. I can't seem to get anywhere and when I do seem to be moving in the right direction I quickly find myself moving in the wrong direction again in a week or two. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I was doing great 3 years ago, I had lost nearly 70lbs and then I got pregnant and gained it all back. Now I just cant seem to get that weight to come back off again! I can't keep living like this! I hate being so overweight. I want to get back into my pre baby jeans so badly. I workout, I stay within my calories 80% of the time. It's getting very depressing.

Don't give up!!
What are you finding it hard to stick to? You say you're sticking to your calorie allowance, and working out. The weight still isn't coming off? Or is it just doing so slower than you would like?0 -
I'm finding it hard to stick with trying to lose. I'll lose a lb gain 2. It is this vicious gain/loss cycle.0

Have you seen a doctor about your thyroid?
I had an aunt who busted her butt exercising and eating right with no avail. Turns out she had an under-active thyroid. She took a pill to stabilize that and voila! Along with her new, healthy lifestyle, the pounds just dropped off!
Maybe you should get checked?0 -
I wish I had some words of wisdom for you....all I can say is don't give up! I've only been at this a short time and I know that support and encouragement has been a great motivator for me. Is someone you love supporting your efforts? I hope so!!
I've been taking thyroid medication for 20 years now and you should definitely have it checked, if you haven't!
I'm happy to cheer you on, lend a shoulder, whatever you need...if you want to add me0 -
if i know anythinhg, it is how easy it is to give up! I am in that same rut again right now! i was off and running, had lost 12 lbs and now, its like i have no more energy to do anything. I am starting to gain the weight back and getting so depressed about it again! but i am going to somehow find the strength to get myself back on the right track....hang int here, its a very vicious cycle!!0

how long have you "been at this for a while"? It might be time to do something different. Give you body a break.0

Hang in there.
Not seeing any improvement can absolutely lead to a loss in motivation.
Spend a day, weekend, whatever it takes researching YOURSELF. Make yourself your new hobby. Be honest with how much you are eating, exercising and review your hearts desire to where you want to be in 12 months. Read up on your BMR/TDEE, listen to some podcasts (I like Fat 2 Fit Radio) and spend some time working out where you may be going wrong.
When you find your starting point - then make a plan for success. Begin with the end in mind.
If you are honestly stuck, and after all your research, think you are doing everything right and still not losing weight, make an appointment to go and see your doctor.
I was where you are now last year. I started a "diet" every day and usually broke it in the afternoon, or dieted for a week, and binged on the weekend. Drank too much wine, and ate chocolate with it, but very little fruit and veg. I was eating 700 calories a day and then 6000 on the weekend - not good. But in my head, I was constantly dieting. I was doing it all wrong, and just getting fatter. I needed to take a good look at what I was doing and be honest about it all and start from scratch. Now I am in a MUCH better place emotionally and my new (old) way of living is fantastic! My motivation is high, and I'm happy to lose weight slowly but by next summer I will be 3 sizes smaller and much happier.
Good luck. Do not lose faith in yourself. Find it instead.0 -
Just curious here, are you getting enough protein?0

Having gained and lost several times over the last 7 years, this is the mindset that has worked for me when I am discouraged or emotional, or don't want to do it any more, whatever the hard day is.
I will worry about tomorrow when I get there. For this meal or this snack, I can make a better choice. I may not make the best choice, but if I can keep myself from digging into the ice cream or going to the drive through, that's better.
How much better I will feel when I'm finished working out is in direct relationship to how much I don't want to go workout right this moment. So if I go get it over with I can get to that sense of accomplishment faster, which in turn will affect my food choices for the better.
Maintaining where I am at is far better than losing ground. If I give up and gain 10 pounds in defeat, at the point where I come out of that slump I always look back and think, "If I could have just stayed where I was at last summer...."
Good luck to you!0
