Over the years I've had this problem every so often. Unless the strap is completely dry, (which is self correcting after, say, 15 minutes of hard exercise) the problem usually is the strap battery. I usually buy a couple at once so I can replace immediately as needed. The watch battery gets low from time to time (display gets a little dim) but doesn't always report low battery even though it is. If you are uncertain which battery it could be, and if you have a gym handy, you can get on a Polar-compatible machine and see if the heart monitor in the machine is detecting your pulse. That gives a clue.

Where did you buy it at? I'd call customer service and get those punks to replace it. :drinker:

Well everyone, thank you for all the advice.

I ended up buying electrode gel, and replacing the strap battery..and TA DA! not a single error my whole jog!!!!! I do however wish they made the chest strap thicker for us chunky folk because it tends to roll during my workout >.< which is annoying.

Try putting the strap under your bra and make sure the strap is pretty tight. Good luck!

That's great! I was going to ask if your strap is small enough for you. I called Polar and they sent me the xs/s one for free since medium is a standard. While I still have that problem sometimes (even wetting the sensors) I now actually wear it around my natural waist. LOVE IT BETTER! Note that I have tested it against my older HR monitor and it is exactly the same when I wear it there. Just a thought. I had a problem with it slipping when I ran and got sweaty under my bra line regardless of what I did. Hope this helps as well.

The sensors are mesh panels on the front. I only had this issue when the strap was too big (FT7 comes with a Med-XXL Strap.) I bought the XS-M strap and was fine.

Ok, maybe I'm just stupid.. because I'm still not understanding which part to soak. fml.

You soak the mesh looking parts that is close to the snaps.

Its the newer model chest strap, there is no mesh on it, just a black all around strap with a rubbery part at the front.

I had one of the older straps (with the mesh) and it started playing up after about 6 months. I sent it to polar and apparently there was a problem with the connectors on the strap so I now have a new one. I wet the entire non elastic bit on the new one and it works fine. It does seem to sometimes have problems with sending my heart rate to my watch if I'm wearing polyester based tops instead of cotton. But mostly, it just means I need the strap tighter. I have an xl-m strap and it seems smaller then the old style which means I need it tighter so make sure it's tight enough.
