HIIT

What do people think of HIIT training, I stopped the exercise for january to try tackle my diet which had got abit out of control before xmas but want to start hitting the gym again. I find cardio boring especially for long periods and have a gym at work which i use on my lunch break. Thinking of trying HIIT which would fit in around work be less boring etc but is this a good way to burn fat?? or is the gruelling 45 min workout better?
