wanting to give up

I recently decided to do something serious about my weight and I did start losing weight but recently every time I weigh myself I'm either putting ON weight or it's remaining the same. I have SO much weight to lose so I know it's not because I've reached my capacity. I'm eating healthy and exercising and not seeing any change makes me want to give up. I just have the constant thoughts that fly through my head: "what's the point of eating healthy and exercising when I see NO change".. desperately need help PLEASE

Firstly, don't give up. Where's that going to get you? :flowerforyou:
Secondly, what's the point of eating healthy and exercise? - because it's good for you! It's a good idea to make those part of your life regardless of what the scale is doing.
Thirdly, you say you have "so much" weight to lose - your ticker says you are looking to lose about 3 kg. Is that a mini goal along the way? With regards to you gaining/staying the same, people might be able to give advice if you give a little more information. Eg. How much do you weigh now, what are you aiming for, how tall are you, how much are you eating and how much are you exercising? How long have you been trying to lose? These things take time, it may be that your expectations are a little unrealistic.0 -
wow that's great advice - thanks heaps!!
Well I exaggerated the "so much" due to the fact that so many girls are so thin and I don't look like that so I feel like I have "so much" weight to lose. Yes the 3kg is a mini goal because I'm desperate to get back into the 50's.
At the moment I weight 63.2kg and I'm approximately 160cm. I'm aiming to get back into the 50's. I exercise by going to the gym in the morning about 3-5 times a week during the school holidays. But when I go back to school that'll decrease due to the huge load of school work. I generally eat pretty healthy except my "pig-out" moments which are when i'm home alone or in the afternoon when i'm hungry. I've been trying to lose weight for about 1 month now.
Thanks so much for your encouragement.. definitely going to the gym tomorrow morning!!0 -
At your size, your weight is not outside of a normal bmi. This will make it particularly hard for you to lose anything. At the point in your weight-loss journey, working out may be shaping your body (stronger, fitter, firmer), but at the same time it may cause you to stop your weight-loss or even gain weight.
If you really want to lose those last kilos to get down in the fifties, you will have to think very carefully about healthy nutrition and what kind of body mass you want. If you try to get there through starvation, you may end up breaking down your own muscle mass in order to reach a number which isn't really that important for your health.
Be careful about pushing too hard for those last kilos, and consult your tape-measure as well as your scale.
Good luck0 -
There could be multiple reasons why this is happening
1. DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) so if you have started training harder or your body is working hard your muscles will swell up after workouts for a day or two depending on recovery and this can add weight.
2. You could be not eating at a Calorie Deficit
3. You could be losing measurements but remaining at the same weight.
4. You could be weighing at the wrong times (morning after your wee is when i do it)
5. You body will fluctuate upto 5lbs a day.
If i could give you the best advice in the world it would be to stop obsessing over the scales, look in the mirror, look at dress sizes, look at measurements, this is the TRUE progress.0 -
I can not explain how grateful I am for this encouragement, it's really fuelled me up!! I'm so thankful for these words, they've really given me that extra "push" that I need since I've been feeling really low. Thanks so much!!0
