Calories in my sushi ?

I am pretty much spot on with calculating all my calories apart from my damn sushi !
i wouldnt worry about it if it was a one off thing, but i have it about 3 times a week.
the info on MFP and other sites varies so greatly its ridiculous !
It so frustrating because if i were to go to mcdonalds and get a burger at least i would know how many cals are in it - as they provide nutritional info.
Would love some info - (how many calories) - regarding my sushi plates below
Cooked tuna baby 6 piece roll - i ask for less rice and more tuna
Terriyaki chicken 4 piece - no mayo or sesame seeds, again less rice
Please excuse the sauce writing haha - its from my birthday. the sauce would normally be on top of the chicken plate - obviously not as much as this occasion.
Any calorie info on other sushi dishes would also be greatly appreciated
Thank you in advance

I to love sushi and the calorie counts on MFP dont seem right. I'd like to know the answer to this.0

I work in a grocery store in the US and there is a few different kinds of sushi that we sell. They come in a box of I think 12 pieces and it is about 500 calories for the whole box. Hope this helps!0
-
I love sushi!!!!!! yum!.. But I hear most 6 piece sushi is around 300 calories.. All this time I thought it was healthier then that.. I still don't see why its so much but I eat it once in a while as a treat.0

Hi my friend,
I tried to look it up for you online but ther are SO many variations Maybe the restaurant you go to has a nutritional guide of the food they serve. Could they also use brown rice ? Just another thought...lol
I hope your day goes well....XXXXX0 -
no way is there 300 calories in the tuna plate. sorry.
but thank you for trying to help
the calculations are saying anything from 90 - 240 calories.
i know 90 is too little, but even 240 seems ridiculous for the one plate.
any nutritionalists or people who really know their calories able to help ?0 -
It's about 3/4 of rice in my guesstimation and with the tuna, say another 130 calories. So probably about 360 calories.

Could be 300 easily. sorry.0 -
I believe that plate is easily 300 calories. There is a lot of rice. I love sushi too by the way. Could eat it every day all day long. Haven't had it in awhile though dang it. Our local Japanese sushi steak house lost their chef and the owner isn't that good at making sushi. My daughter used to work there. She now works at another Japanese steak house but hasn't brought home anything lately. Gotta get on her about that :mad:0

Yep, easily 300 calories with the rice, and the mayo in the tuna filling.0 -
I too love sushi, but since on average it could be 300-500+ calories, I only have it on a cheat day.
Sodium, sauces, mayo sauces, rice... it racks up.0 -
Man this thread depresses me now.0

Sushi is by far my favourite food and I'm so sad that it in fact has so many calories. I recently switched to just eating sashimi so I can still somewhat enjoy it.0

I was going to say more like 400. Sushi isn't low-cal at all.0 -
Agreed, they're not low cal.
Its hard for me to figure out the size of the rolls on the plate, but most restaurants in the UK I've been to say about 180 for 6 tuna rolls but they're pretty small...0 -
Sadly, handmade rolls can vary a large amount from location to location, and even from chef to chef at the same place. About the only way you are going to get even a decent estimate on this (+/-10%) is if you were to tear it all apart and weigh the ingredients individually. Even then, it would only be ballpark, unless you knew the exact ingredients that they use in each sauce, etc.0

I would think that that 180 for 6 tuna rolls, are the tiny tiny ones that have just the tuna in solid form in the center.
But the calories in sushi were an eye opener for me.
We don't eat it as often anymore.....0 -

That's what I was thinking...sashimi. I'm sure the rice is what increases the calories, even if you are asking for just a little. You may want to eat the fish only. Oh...what about veggie or shrimp spring rolls ? I know they're not as exciting, but less calories.0 -
As far as I know and have been told and have read, there are ALOT of calories in Sushi womp womp....0
