Then you find new fitness/health goals. You try and find the right balance of calories to not continue to lose but also to not gain. Your goals will be different and you have to find other things to keep you motivated since it's no longer the number on the scale. Measurements and pictures are your best friends (and that one pair of really expensive skinny jeans you want to keep wearing  )

  • In my experience you have to tinker a bit with your diet and exercise to find a level that you are happy with, and that will maintain the weight you want to achieve.

Set a calorie level, and try to stick to it. If you gain a pound here, or lose a pound there it doesn't really matter on a week by week basis.

The most important thing is that you don't continually gain a pound or two a week consistently, as this is a slippery slope.

Have you ever tried a BMR calculator to work out how many calories you would burn if you did nothing for a day at your current weight and height? These aren't perfect as they don't account for muscle mass vs fat, but they are a start.

When I reached goal (225) I gave myself a weight range (+/- 5lbs) to stay in. Weighed daily (after getting up/use bathroom/in birthday suit) just to track but also set a day (Wed) for a weekly snapshot. Based on that weigh in I play around with my daily calories in/exercise out to set a general goal for the week and just keep tracking things. Pretty much it. In fact, today's weigh in I weighed 225.2, which is were I was when I started maintenance 11/16, so it's been working so far.

I have been focusing on reducing my body fat since 11/16 with diet and exercise, which is my main goal now along with maintaining my weight range. Also have some running goals for the year so the motivation to stay fit/get fitter is also pushed by those. Just got to find goals other than weight loss to focus on, whatever they may be.
