its hard to say exactly. I would suggest getting a heart rate monitor that can give you a more accurate count of what you are burning during workouts.
  • Thank You ! Do you know of any good heart rate monitors ?

I have a Polar FT4 and I love it, it's comfy and simple to use and I got it for a good price on amazon.com I also have a Garmin that is nice for when I go running so I can get my mileage.

You only know the true calorie burn with a HRM Polar is my Top choice. I have been using one for over 3 years

I also have the Polar FT7 and like it. 400 for 45 mins of Tae Bo doesn't sound that far off. I can get 320-420 calories burned in a 45-ish minute session of doing various Jillian Michaels workouts.

the Polar FT4 is perfect for your needs. The FT7 is great too but you pay more for alot of beels and whistles you'll probably never really use

I'll put in my vote for polar monitors. I've had mine almost 2 years and still my absolute favorite and most useful piece of workout attire I've ever purchase.

As for the workout, here's my extremely unscientific and untested guesstimate based on my personal experience and my own body and results. Also, Many users find that the database is vastly inaccurate so really, if you're serious, get a HRM... In the meantime, ask yourself:
    How hard were you working?
-Could you carry on a conversation easily (maybe 150 cal/ hr)
-Or barely catch your breath (maybe 500+cal/hr)
-Gauge for yourself anywhere in between
    How fit are you?
-More cal/ hr if you are more overweight, less cal/hr if you are lighter
-More cal/ hr if you're just starting to exercise, less cal/ hr if you are lighter
How frequently and for how long have you done this workout?
-First time doing this workout? Probably slightly lower cals/ hr because you're learning the moves, etc
-43rd time doing this workout 3x/ week? Probably slightly lower cals/ hr because your body is more used to it and has likely adapted to the routine.

    Hope that was helpful.

And hope I'm not attacked for the potential inaccuracy..... :)
  • Heart rating is a great method, but for the time being you could also google the amount of calories burned based on your weight, height, etc. You know how hard you worked... pools of sweat means WORK, and light sweat means average :-) By the way, Taebo is awesome! Good luck. :-)

Oh, and for other workout ideas: running/ jogging, jumping rope/jumping jacks, and calisthenics (things like sit ups, pushups, leg raises, etc) are good for at home. 10 minute solution videos can also be easy to find on youtube, not my personal favorite but they get the job done.

If you have a gym membership or access to classes, zumba or aerobic step (IMO!) are both pretty fun. Swimming is also great.
  • Thank you all for your replies :D looking for a heart rate monitor will definitely search for Polar or FT4/7 ! xx

While you are searching, the Polar F7 was clearanced out at Targets and HH Gregg so you should be able to get it less than $50. :)
