I want to participate in a 5K run on 3/16/2013. I found some programs for training for a 5K, however I do enjoy the gym and my group fitness classes. Am I okay to do one of these running programs (such as Sofa to 5K) or would that hurt my body? I generally workout hard 4-5 days a week but I am not a runner so it doesnt involve running.
Any input would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks!

When I'm not actively running, my exercise consists of either weight training, the ellipticals, the ARC trainer or the exercise bike.
I personally would avoid most group fitness classes as the movements may cause me issues as a runner, especially side-to-side stuff...0 -
I'm just doing a little something on the days I'm not doing my run. I started the C 2 5K last week. So far i'm ok. But i'm doing very minimal amounts of lifting and pilates, so i can focus on the running.0
