HRM or Running shoes?

Ok so i only have enough money to either buy a HMR or running shoes but not both. I don't know which one to buy. What's more important to get now, and what can wait a little until i gather more money?

SHOES!
Yesterday, I ran in an old pair of runners - couldn't even run more than 5 minutes cause my shins were killing me. Today, I went out and bought a new pair.. no shin splints and I ran longer.
HRM can wait.0 -

Not using aHRM won't lead to injury- not having good shoes might though.0

You don't need either if you are planning to run barefoot.0
