What do you look for most in a person? (friends or lovers, just people in general)

I mostly look for the ability to smile even when the going gets tough. People that ***** and moan over spilled milk irk me.

A similar sense of humor and similar tastes. If we can't laugh together then whats the point?

HONESTY always luckily Im married and at the end of the day if you are lying about how you are feeling you are just screwing yourself in the end. After 2 children 19 months apart moving and a whole lot of other things you see whats important.

Humor, personality, laid-back attitude, spontaneity is nice as well but I also respect a person that makes plans, as long as they're not overkill with it.

Dreams - Gotta Have Them. I don't want to date or hang out with someone that has ambitions of being a lump/loser for the rest of their life.

Honesty - I'm honest, so I want someone else who will be too. Honesty cuts a lot of time-wasting BS and confusion out of the mix and is mostly beneficial, even when it hurts a little.

Sharing - Do it. I want to hear it, it's a part of you, and I wouldn't be listening if I didn't care about you.

Intelligence - If you can't hold a moderate to fairly in-depth conversation, you will not hold my interest or my mind for very long. Hold my mind and you Hold Me. :)

Loyalty is big with me as well, in friends and in lovers.

Have fun. With Me! I like it too! :D

Attractiveness/Looks are subjective, if a person is awesome in all those other traits, they become extremely physically attractive to me regardless of their mainstream looks.

In friends I like people who are loyal, with a similar twisted sense of humor, fun and outgoing (shy people don't tend to do well around me LOL).

In a mate/lover, pretty much the same as I look for in friends. I have a thing for dominant men, my head tends to be turned by guys who are confident and well spoken.

I love this question...if they are just passing through, I just try to be polite. If they are staying for a time, or if I am wanting them to, then humbleness, curiousity, honesty, integrity, and commonality, oh, and intelligence (or at least a willingness to learn..back to the humbleness and curiosity)

Heartbeat is a good start. Add in a little breathing and I'm on the board.
