Fitness Gadgets

I've been looking at some of the wearable fitness tracking devices out there and wanted to know if anyone has personal experience with any of them. I've narrowed my choices down to the "Up" by Jawbone and the "FuelBand" by Nike. Both of them look good on paper, but as of right now I'm leaning toward the Up because it is about overall wellness and not just earning points. Any feedback would be helpful.

Why do you want it. If its for motivation- fine. If its for accurate calorie burn- you're wasting your money. You'd be better off with Bodymedia fit or wearing a fitbit for general activity and then a HRM for cardio exercise.
  • I like idea of both products, but after reading post in few other threads I ended up doing more research on the BodyMedia Fit. I think that's the route I'm gonna end up going.

Message me if you have any questions.
  • I just got a fitbit. I know it's not 100% accurate, but I didn't expect it to be ... I kinda just thought it was a neat idea. Their website sucks, too -- I still use mfp to log food and exercise. HOWEVER, I love my fitbit because it gives me a push to get more steps ... so while its calorie-burn-counting abilities may not be 100% accurate, I know I'm burning more than I would be without it, because knowing it's there makes me go a little farther.

(Also, the fitbit is really tiny and no one really even knows it's there. The bodymedia thingy is huge; I considered it but 1. it's more expensive and 2. it's gigantic.)

I wear my BMF under work clothes and just ruffle up my sleeves and it can't be seen. As I'm in the UK I can only get the larger Advantage model but the Core is smaller. I don't even notice I have it on.
  • Thanks for the input guys. For me it's one of those things where I want to have an accurate read of I'm doing so that I can manipulate my calories according to my goals. I've been the fitness industry for 7 years now and have turned into quite the fitness nerd, LOL. Having access to accurate info on my caloric expenditure that is more than just an estimate will be invaluable for both growth and cut cycles for me.
