running shoes

I just started the cough to 5k thing and am wondering about shoes. I can't justify buying shoes since this is something I am trying out and not sure if its something I will make a regular routine. I have only done day one and wore my nike zumba shoes and didn't have any issues. My other shoes are new balance. Which ones would be best for running? Don't. Know if it makes a difference but most of the running will take place on a treadmill.

What type of new balance? You really need running shoes bc if you don't use something good for running and appropriate for your foot, you are going to have more issues.
I would not use Zumba shoes0 -
I really don't know what their name is besides new balance but they do have the number 505 on them and they were pricey but no clue if they would be good to run or not. I will have to think about if I really want to do running cause I wouldn't want to waste money.0

since i've never done zumba i'm not sure what zumba sneakers are but i used to run in new balance sneakers. after competing in several races and realizing i enjoyed it i splurged and bought a pair of brooks (very expensive). if you're comfortable wearing the new balance and you're trying to figure out if you want to run then i would wear them. just remember slow and steady. go too fast too soon and you risk injuring yourself.0

I broke down and got Saucony running shoes recently. Was wearing "cuter" Nikes before. Have 4-5 pair of them. Best thing I have ever done. SAVED my feet. Great support. Super cushion. Fit my orthotics. Total relief for my Plantar fasciitis. Once I kicked up my cardio, I knew I needed more serious shoes. Couldn't say enough about them...

PS- I have/HAD zumba shoes and trashed them!! They have ZERO support. I do Zumba in these too, after having SERIOUS feet issues. The support is more important to me that the smooth sole for turning...0
