Weight Loss Competition Formula

Does anyone have or can think of a good formula to run a fair weight loss competition? My ideas so far and their issues;
Starting fat - current fat = total fat lost
Unfair to those who only want to loose a small amount of fat.
( Starting fat - current fat ) / starting weight = % of fat lost of initial body weight
Problem is the heaviest will always be at the top and the lightest always at the bottom. Those with the most to loose will generally loose more per week.

Gives a fairer calculation however, severely overweight people will always be at the bottom, due to only be able to loose a maximum amount of weight.

Maybe you could do those methods but have subcatagoies like Welter weight, light weight, feather weight, that kind of thing where people are in the competition but competing with thier weight catagories. Maybe you could do inches as well.
You would also have to sub out by age because it is harder for older folks, not an actual sub catagory but an age designation to allow someone who maybe didn't win thier catagory but did win thier age group. Oh just a suggestion but it would be cool if you could weekly post the stats of ea person so at a glance we could tell rather than wading thru each post. Kind of like a score sheet showing people moving up thier placements. I know if I were in last place I would kick it up a notch. People that enter would have to lknow it is not personal and if they are in last place not to feel bad.

I like the sub category idea, however there's only 10 of us all different ages, shapes and sizes. However I could somehow weight every ones weight/fat loss depending on what category they are in to give kind of a score? Any ideas on what the maximum weight someone can expect to loose based on those criteria?0

going by % weight is the most fair although , no matter what the more overweight people have an advantage because it is easier to lose for them. We had a contest where I work and it was pretty close between a very overweight guy and a not so overweight women.0

At work we did straight % of weight lost. I am a small-ish woman and I got 2nd place. I think it's fair to both sides. If you're big overweight male it's easier to drop weight but you have to drop a lot of it to get a good percentage. If you're a small female you have to lose less weight to get a good percentage, but it's much harder. It evens out well.0

I would do a percentage of weight lost. If you have a large enough group, break them up into 2 or 3 groups. Group them by BMI (I know it isn't a great measurement for health. However, since most probably dont work out, the issue of having too much muscle skewing the numbers doesn't apply).0

I would do the third. Going by % will be the best because if you are thinner, each pound will count for more, but be harder to lose, and if you are heavier, each pound will count less, but be easier to lose. So it will mostly even out0

I do like the 3rd method however the obese guy in our team can never win and based on last months figures was bottom of the table every week despite loosing the most.
And in terms of straight weight loss, I don't actually want to loose weight at all, I want to loose fat and gain muscle.
I need some fancy formula, maybe using their BMI to weight the fat lost somehow.0
