Hi, I am new here, and I am sorry if this is a repeat question, but my computer keeps messing up when I try to use the search option. I just started a couple weeks ago and have a long journey ahead of me. I weighed in this morning and while I was down about 6 inches overall (yay!) I was only down 5 pounds. I workout about 30 -45 minutes a day, 5 days a week using an elliptical and some weights. I am in the process of overhauling my diet, but I am eating about 1700 calories a day. I also drink about 3 liters of water daily.
Also if it helps, I am at 317 and trying to get to 170. Any advice?

loss of inches usually means you've lost fat, so well done and that counts for more than what the scale says
if you've increased the amount of exercise you're doing, that will cause your muscles to retain more water. This is a good thing, so stick with the exercise programme. This extra water evens itself out over time and you should start to see the scale go down consistently.0 -
5 lbs in a couple of weeks is a lot of weight! Inches and weight loss. Sounds like you are doing great to me. Keep up the good work!! :flowerforyou:0

Thanks for the encouragement! I was hoping it was just water, lol. I never used to drink enough, and now I find I cant seem to get enough0

Sounds like an amazing start to me! Well done - I think inches mean more than the scales - take a photo too of when you start if you haven't already - and another in a few weeks time in the same outfit maybe - seeing the difference is a big motivation too - good luck0

Looking at the scale is very misleading. My sister who is a personal trainer is heavier than me, who is visibly chubby and jiggly. She is over 10lbs heavier than me at the same height, and has a gorgeous abdomen and perfect shape.0

Hey sounds like your doing fantastic. My scale hasnt budged but I feel like I have lost inches, I look more toned. I try not to concentrate on the scale and just how I feel and the small changes I notice. If I concentrate on the scale only I would have given up long ago. Keep up the great work!0

Focus on inches lost instead of weight as your main view of how your progress is. It is great to see the scale move but you will see more changes with inches lost as opposed to scale weight.
You are doing great!!!!0 -
Inches mean way more than lbs! One thing you could do to stay motivated is hang up an article of clothing that's too small where you can see it everyday. Try it on once a week to chart your progress. I have a pair of jeans that I'd love to get into. I didn't lose weight in the past week but the button was closer to actually closing today than it was last Friday. Progress!0

seriously thank you to all of you. Its hard to get started on this journey, so hearing encouragement helps a ton! I will have to get some pictures, I think you are right, that will help me see the change
edited for bad spelling! :happy:0
