Newbie On My Fitness Pal

I am looking forward to tracking my success on My Fitness Pal. I would like to loose 40 lbs by August. Not sure if that is possible but I'm going to give it my best shot. Would love to be in a size 10 once again. Hoping to receive lots of tips from many of you on how you have accomplished your dreams of being thinner as well.

    I have lost 30 since the beginning of the year. I'm not saying it can't be done but 40 pounds by August may be a little out of reach. If you mean by August 1st that only leaves you 2 1/2 months and MFP really recommends your goal to be to lose no more than 2 pounds a week. That is their recommendation to lose it safely and also so that after you lose the weight you have less of a chance of gaining it right back. Good luck and please lose safely.

    You run the risk when dropping weight that fast of it backfiring on you. Your metabolism is built around the lean muscle that consumes the calories you eat. A "crash" diet will often attack muscle as well as fat actually slowing your metabolism. I think slow and steady will do the trick much more to your satisfaction.
