Hey all I was just curious if any of you know if the afterburn you supposedly get after HIIT or weight lifting is a real thing? I've seen so much research that goes either way and was just wondering what your experiences have been? I know when I do HIIT or lifting I am always so hungry on these day!

I am always so hungry after my workouts.
The only thing I've ever done it "hit the wall" and that was awful0 -
It is real. The term for it is Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption or EPOC. Any high intensity exercise will give you some EPOC. HIIT and Strength Training do. So does Steady State Cardio. The amount of the effect is pretty much impossible to quantify.0

I think part of the afterburn also stems from the body pretty much ramping up to repair the muscle fibers damaged by exercise. Definitely hard to quantify, but definitely existent!0
