NSV- Mind SHIFT

Yesterday during lunch, two coworkers were discussing a district wide weight loss competition. They were weighing in the clinic weekly. There is no monetary reward- just bragging rights. I have not shared a lot of what I am doing publicly at work. I almost volunteered to sign up (feeling competitive) but then thought, I am not in a race. This is a personal journey.

I am not focused on losing weight this time and my scale is NOT the "be all-end all". This time, it's about better food choices, micro nutrients, feeling better, eating less processed foods. And this new way of thinking about eating does not have an end date - this is just the way I am now!

That's really good! You do have the right mindset about it, which is to create an everlasting change and build up good habits. Competitions with an end date set up the wrong kind of attitude and will likely lead to quite a few of your workers gaining it back when they stop 'competing'.

That's nice, think of the long-term plan. You see some of the biggest loser contestants gain quickly right after the finale. It's not healthy. But then again for half a mil, I would live in the gym
