Should I start this program now or after my period

As a few of you know i was going to start the 30 day shred today. Well as a present, life said here's your period instead haha. Do I suck it up and start the program today? Or should I wait until after to start it. I'm not sure how heavy cardio and heavy periods work together

As it's 30 days, you are going to get your period at some point. Why not do it today and get the worst of both over with?0

You'll be fine in fact studies show that regular exercise including during this time can have great benefit!! Itll improve your mood and helps with cramps.0

I would say depends on how your periods are - if you have any anemia etc. As the above poster said you are going to hit your period during it anyhow, so just listen to your body.
I would think if you are getting lightheaded/having palpitations that would be a good indicator to stop.0 -
Exercise while you're on your period is actually good, and I've heard some women say that they feel more motivated/wanting to be active during them(I'm like this, but then again I know people that just want to sit on their couch and watch Oprah all day.)0

Just do it! Ive found that the harder the workout during my period the better i feel through my entire period. Especially if im cramping bad. If i can workout through the cramps they are usually gone in about ten minutes rather than dealing with them all day.0 -
The answer is always now!0

Wish me luck then! Haha. I feel like vomiting but I'm gonna do it!0

I don't exercise during my period. Some women do, but I don't.0 -

Says that non-menstrual man. :laugh:0 -

I hope you aren't suggesting to do 30DS for thirty days straight!0 -

Wait. Isn't that what you're suppose to do?0 -

No, you are missing out if you do it that way. You should do two days of it, then do a light cardio day, then two days, then a light cardio day, then a rest day and repeat. Your body doesn't benefit from the exercise, but from recovery. Exercise tears your muscle fibers, then when you give them rest, they rebuild. It's during the rebuilding that you reap the benefits. If you don't allow any recovery days, then you are missing some of the benefit.
I used to do it every other day, just because that's how I chose to do it. But the idea is to do each level of the workout ten times each. (Or more if you are struggling, or less if it's too easy.)0 -
Ill try that, thanks!0

Hi, 10 times? Is that 10 days one after the other then break?0 -
The answer is always to start right away. Waiting just makes time to come up w/ excuses.
Good luck on your journey.0 -
30 Day Shred is not heavy cardio. There are circuits, so you only do 2 or 3 minutes of cardio at a time.
And yes, you are supposed to do it every single day. That's why it works so well. I took 1 day off a week, but no more.0 -
NOW! Lol as someone else said putting it off just gives you time to make excuses, that is the main reason I started Insanity on a Friday rather than a Monday, I knew if I waited till Monday I would have time to talk myself out of it. Good Luck with 30 Dayshred!0

Alrighty. It's confusing to hear different answers haha.
Ill just do it every day. It's only 20 minutes.0
