On the Internet, it's says my TDEE is 1579cals.
Whereabouts on MFP do I go to work out how many cals to lose?

I do TDEE minus 20%. U do not get credit for exercise- ie do not eat exercise cals. But do keep exercising. It's already accounted for in your TDEE.

Take your TDEE and subtract 250 calories to lose about .5lbs a week, or 500 a day to lose about a pound.

Ah ok, Thankyou, so basically using the rule of thumb that a pound of fat = 3500 cals?

Um. How tall r u and how often do u work out? Cuz I just realized TDEE-20% is below ur BmR.

subtract 10-20% of the TDEE, so -20% it would be 1272 cals/day. At -10% it would be about 1420.

you need a defict of 3500 cals per week so if your eating 1500 then 300 a day if you eat more you can burn more

To get that TDEE you have selected sedentary - what is your daily activity?

So I assume that you either don't exercise or work a VERY sedentary job if your TDEE is 1576.

Sorry if I sound a bit clueless at the moment! My job isn't very active, I'm a teacher but am on my feet a lot of the day, moving about the classroom etc, but some of it involves being sat at my desk marking too! I guess when I get one from work I flop infront of the tv most nights...

I like to look at numbers like a guideline - it's nice to stay within the lines, but it's about what actually IN them that matters a bit more.

Like you, and many, my "TDEE - 20%" is less than my BMR too. I'll just say I have numbers similar to what you posted. I'm 5'2" and currently eat around 1,200- 1,300 cals/ day & be sure to get all my nutrients in with real food. But I am a little low on iron. =x
