Endomondo Tracker vs. Online Calculator

I've been using the "sister app" of MFP, Endomondo Tracker and it always shows me a number different from any online calorie burning calculator. What do I believe? Granted the Endomondo tracker uses GPS but does that make it more accurate?

For example, I walked up and down stairs for 10mins. Endomondo shows i burned 229 cals.. WOW! Then I used online calculators cause that seems like ALOT of calories burned for only 10mins and according to the online calculators i burned only 84cals based on my weight and length of exercise..HheeelLLlpp!!!

Endomondo shows gross calorie burn. Most other apps and calculators give you net calorie burn. For better accuracy I use an HRM during my workouts.

I have been having thoughts about that too. I keep track of the calories burned on the treadmill at the gym but MFP is always alot higher. I always put in what the equipment at the gym says. I would rather track the lowest number so I don't take the chance of overeating calories burned.

Personally I would go with what Endomondo read since it can also track the speed you are going. If you are walking faster you would be burning more than if you are walking slower.
