Scale accuracy

So I got a new digital scale that is supposed to measure body fat and all that but I really just wanted it becasue it is easier to see small losses and gains with digital vs a dial. Anyway I have 2 scales, one says I weigh 270 (dial) and the digital comes in a 263.2. Here is the kicker, I have a 35 pound hex dumbbell, the digital reads it at 35.0, the dial reads it right on 35 also. Which one do I trust and how the hell do I figure out where the difference is coming from?

Key to weighing in is consistency. Regardless of whether it's "correct", using the same scale, same day, same clothing options (naked! woo!) will still show results.

I'd personally go with the smaller number. Duh. :drinker:

What corn said. Just use the SAME scale every time.

I am going to use the same one from here on out, it's just that I would like to know how much I actually weigh and 6-7 pounds is a pretty big difference when the scales weigh dead even at 35 pounds.

Meh. Take the smaller number and run with it. If you're going to use that scale, that's your number.

HELP- my digital scale fluctuates. I'm one of those who gets on,,, gets off, lets it go off.. turn it on again ' just to be sure'...walk out, put the coffee on... come back and try again... and each reading seconds apart is a little different. I'm at the point where a pound and a half matters to me cos I'm wanting to kill the last 15 or so. I'm thinking of taping a square off so the scale is in the exact same position each time and I'm thinking about chucking it and buying a new one... it was a cheap model from bedbathandbeyond a year and a half ago.

I do this and it´s sooo wrong!! The worst thing is, my boyfriend has caught the weigh in bug as he´s trying to gain weight and everytime he get´s on, he´s lost up to a kilo!! That really annoys me because he can eat a huge bowl of pasta, weigh in and still lose! I stopped weighing myself at different times now, once, in the morning, in my undies and take the 2nd reading.. the first one is always lower for some reason..

My scales change even if i move them to a different place in the kitchen (as thats the only tiled floor in the house) so i make sure i use the same tile every time!
