Hello.
I know a lot of people rave about these 2 products and alot of people have done both AND have gotten great results from using them. My problem is MONEY! I don't have alot of it and I can't afford these extra things. I want to become fit and strong but can I do this just with my universal gym set, 10lb, 25lb free weight set, and badminton, skating, elliptical, and walking??? And of course eating "mostly" clean.
Let me know ur thoughts people! Thanks!

No I don't think they're necessary at all. They are just another form of exercise that is structured in a certain way. Providing you are eating well, eating the correct amount of calories, and exercising you will be fine.
You tube have snip its of each of the programmes if not the full length versions. Maybe have a look at these to get ideas.
Good luck!0 -
I wouldn't say it's necessary for everyone, but it sure is for me. I need structure for my workouts, just like I need structure for portion control. And P90X has done that for me (I'm on day 35 currently).
But I also had a perspective change at the beginning of the year as well. see: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/852794-i-ve-stopped-trying-to-lose-weight
I hope you find what works for you!0 -
I was speaking with an Orthopedist the other day and he said that those two products have been great for his business.

I don't think it's necessary at all however it depends on the person
I know without a structured programme I would fall down when it came o exercise so I need something that keeps me on track0 -
Hey Barbara,
I have a copy of P90x. If you want a copy let me know and I can send you one. I'm not trying to sell it to you, just send it free of charge.
Let me know,

You can get it shape lots of different ways. It sounds like you already have some good equipment. When I first started working out, I did the differnt workouts on the cable on demand sports & fitness channel. They're a great way to do lots of different workouts...for free! Even if you didn't have weights, you could use things like soup cans or laundry detergent bottles filled up with water or sand...no need to be all fancy. Maybe check out you tube for workout videos or websites like fitness or health magazines-they usually post different workouts at least every month.
I have p90x and absolutely love it. I found it online for like $40...best $40 I've ever sent. The beachbody workouts can be rather spendy but they work well. Maybe look in the amazon marketplace for used DVDs-you don't need the fitness guides and calendars because all of that is available on the beachbody website. If you get used DVDs, I suggest using a reputable site like amazon marketplace, so you could return it if the DVDs don't play or something like that.
The formula for getting in shape is just hard work + dedication + a healthy diet that works for you (theres only about a zillion different types-for me, I'm vegetarian with high protein & high fiber, but you have to find what works for you) = results. You'll get there!0 -

same thing here but I find that I do need some sort of guidance to my exercising so am doing the tae bo vidoes and thinking of investing into some Jillian Micheals dvds for the weight training other than that it's eating as clean as possible and watching my cals good luck to you0
