What should I do with old clothes?

Hey everyone!
I need some advice on what to do with some of my old clothes. A lot of my clothing doesn't fit me anymore because of the weight I've gained in the past year. Although I am trying to lose the weight, I know it won't take a few days to get me back into my old clothes. I was getting ready to clean out my closet and was wondering if you guys think I should keep my smaller clothes as motivation to get back into them or I should just donate them and buy new ones when I lose the weight. Thanks for any input

I would keep them. This will give you a goal to reach. Buying new ones when you reach your goal too is fun also.0

ebay and then you can buy new x :bigsmile:0

I only got rid of things as they got too big so there was no turning back.0

I wouldn't be impetuous and throw away clothes you are going to need. I hear some folks on here complaining about all the money it is costing them to buy new clothes as they lose and it is really a burden to them.
To me, it is my "fat clothes" I aim to give away not my skinny clothes. I've seen on some fitness forums where woman who have no more need for a size 14 jean send them to another dieter who is in need of that size for the time being and they help each other out.0 -

^ This is a good idea I'd hold on to a few of your favorites, but if you're wanting to clean out your closet there are always people in need of clothes.0 -
I'm with the suggestion to sell them on Ebay! You can make decent money if you have some name brand items. Then you can spend the money on shopping for new clothes when you reach your goal weight. Trying on new clothes is always a good motivator!0

Keep! I had a "skinny drawer" of clothes I wore at my most thin (not very thin!). I used this drawer as motivation and even tried stuff on every now and then to see how close I was to fitting into them. Now they are too big and I will be giving them away. I only give away clothes that are too big so there's no turning back.0

Win!
I have been trying to find a place that would buy my larger/hardly worn expensive work clothes.0 -
I always keep my clothes for 15 months packed and stored if I have not worn them by then I send them to the consignment store if they are in good shape that way when they sell I have credit to buy others ebay or craigs list is to much of a pain for me, if they are just in OK shape I give them to goodwill and if they are stained they become rags.0

I would pull anything that doesn't fit that you want to wear again and put them in Space Bags.
Those you don't want to wear anymore no matter what size you are donate or sell.0 -
Donate, garage sale, ebay....
I'm keeping one pair of pants though for those times when I forget from whence I came.0 -

Wow so many responses! I like the idea of keeping a few things to try and fit back into. I think I will be donating most of them but I really love the idea of having a drawer of skinny clothes to motivate me. Thanks so much everyone!0

When I lost weight- I separated them into casual, work, dressy, workout and put ads on Craigslist selling them by the bag. The ones I didn't sell I need up giving away.
I regained and wish I still had a few things!
I keep a box of things that will fit me once lose more.0
