Best Cd's for running?

Hi guys going to make a new playlist for when I go running :)
I know people have different tastes etc but I honestly like all sorts of different types of music, so just wondered what some of your favourites to run to are.
Single tracks or compilation Cd's would be awesome :D

Thank you :)

My current playlist for my walks on the treadmill includes...

"Just Like a Pill" by Pink (my FAVORITE song to run to)
"Don't Let Me Get Me" by Pink
"Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" by Pink (sensing a theme here?)
"No Light, No Light," by Florence and the Machine
"Shake it Out" by Florence and the Machine

If I'm wanting to zone out while I walk or run, I also like to use the Gayatri Mantra (my favorite recording is by Deva Premal) or trance/electronica ala Massive Attack, Govinda, or Delirium.

I always found Skrillex to be my go to when working out, but specifically for running I use podrunner.com mixes that have steady beats. They are all free and range in speed.

Try Radiohead: Let Down. You may not like Radio Head but the song is perfect for running. You also might be like WTH on the first 2/3 of the song when you first listen to it but the 1/3 ending is very intense.
  • What is a CD?

Do you use those in a portable 8 track player?

I would suggest you buy a walkman, but it looks like you are into running, not walking.

Search 35 top hits - power music workout

They have a lot of really good songs remixed to be at a good enough speed for running and working out to a beat.

My top #1 A+ running album is Girl Talk "All Day". Seamless flow with upbeat tracks and slower, push-through-it tracks; approx an hour of continuous music; and best part, something for everyone! I'm not big into hip hop, but somehow the mix of dirty, often comical rap lyrics over ELO, Phil Collins or John Lennon is the perfect balance. It always makes me want to get up and MOVE!

Right now my top 5 songs to run to:

Rock and Roll by Sons of Bill
Dublin Crow by Butch Walker and the Black Widows
    Little Willy by Sweet
Saturday Night by Bay City Rollers
    Single Ladies by Beyonce

For me it's all about the beat. If you looked at my playlist you would think someone just picked random songs to put on there. I have songs from the 60's - right now.

It takes me about 10 minutes to run a mile, so I'm in no hurry. When I run, I normally listen to rock music with a steady beat.

The best example I can think of would be the song "Back In Black" by AC/DC. It's good for marching too.

"Tom Sawyer" by RUSH is another good example.

    Good Luck!!

  • My running playlist right now has:

    Too close - Alex Clare
    Undo it - Carrie Underwood
Make me proud - Drake & Nicki Minaj
As long as you love me - Justin Bieber
    Thirft Shop - Macklemore
    Jump - Rihanna
    Talk that Talk - Rihanna & Jay-Z
Gunpowder and Lead - Miranda Lambert
    Skrillex - Bangarang
Smoke a little smoke - Eric Church
I knew you were trouble - Taylor Swift
E.T. - Katy Perry and Kanye West

They are all up beat and great running songs :)

I love doing cardio to Girl Talk.

My other staples are Daft Punk, MGMT, Kavinsty and M83. I need a good steady beat to run to.

Wow wasnt expecting so many people to respond thank you all so much :) There are some brilliant recommendations here :)
  • Before I quit running I'd do 7 miles a day, I liked the continuity of an album, so each day I'd have a different albums to push me along through my jog/run. Here's a few:

    Twin Shadow "Forget"
George Harrison "All Things Must Pass"

Now that I'm getting back into working out, this is a good night run song.

I normally fill my ipod with randoms, and make a mental note while I am out running of which ones have the RPMs that best suit my pace.

I buff it out with some tunes that are a bit faster, and use these as interval runs to get the heart rate up that little bit more during the run.

Because I go for RPM, not artist/genre, I can't really advise more than that.

But, music soothes even the savage beast - so get onto it. Love making new playlists.
