The point of exercise is that it's good for you!

MFP already has you at a deficit with your daily goal before exercise. Meaning you could eat to goal, with zero exercise for the day, and still lose weight. When you log exercise, MFP adds those calories burned back into your daily goal to avoid leaving you with an even larger deficit. Small deficit = good. Huge deficit = bad.

That's why your NET calories show what you're left with, what your body has to function with, after you've eaten and subtracted exercise cals. They expect you to eat until net cals is up to goal.

Your calorie goal already has the deficit built in...you don't have to exercise to lose with MFP method. If you do exercise, you're expected to fuel that activity. MFP gives you a goal...it is a goal...something to be achieved; when you exercise MFP ups the GOAL so that you will properly fuel yourself rather than starve yourself. This is one of the many reasons I just shake my head when I see people doing multiple hours sessions of intense cardio every day...they can't fuel it, why are they doing it.

Also, where did the 945 calories burn come from? That seems like a **** ton of walking.

Exercise for fitness, heart health, and strength; use your diet for weight control.

You eat until remaining says zero.

Also, 1000 for walking is pretty extreme. That would be hours of walking at a moderate to fast pace. If you really that, have some nuts.

I eat about 75% of my exercise calories back. The MFP system expects you to add calories to fuel exercise.

    Good luck!

If you find a form of exercise that you enjoy, you won't need to ask what's the point. What's the point of riding my bike through the woods and zooming down hills with the wind in my hair, or paddling a kayak across/around a lake and crashing into the big waves made by ski boats? It's fun. :)

And yeah it took me 80 minutes of swimming with a 135 heart rate to burn 1000 calories. Walking doesn't seem that vigorous unless by walking you meant climbing that stairway in Ace Ventura 2.
