All processed drinks. I'm quite fond of Hansen's soda (probably the least processed pop you can get) and sweet tea. I'm going to shoot for only water and almond milk and brewed tea only.

Nothing at all - best of luck to those that do! I can only imagine how it would feel to be working on eating healther then have to give up something on top of it!

Edited to fix spelling - that's what I get for typing too fast then running!

For Lent, I will praise God that He doesn't actually require us to give anything up and give thanks that I'm not in a religion that tells people otherwise. :flowerforyou:

I'm looking forward to Easter and the Cadbury eggs and Reese's eggs. :drinker:

  • Have given up different foods most years One year, 2008 i gave up all food and drank only water and vitamins for 40 days...but that was for a serious spritual request. Hmmm which was granted!...but this year I'm taking on Juicing for the 40 day's journey , along with daily inspirational reading. Just a daily reminder of Gratitude in all that I am, have and am to become.
    :flowerforyou:
Remember, the 40 day journey is to change ourself ...not as punishment!!

I'm giving up having excuses not to go to the gym... I'm not religious, but if there is a god, he will be impressed by that

I'm giving up the things I really love that don't love me: Crisps & biscuits - I can never just have 1 packet or 2 biscuits I can and will eat the lot - can't buy multipack crips cause they will be eaten in one sitting, Packet of biscuits go the same way as crisps. I do try but I just can't.

I can't have them in the house, even when I think I can be good I can't....so they go for lent this year :(

    Nothing. I'm an atheist.

Try giving that up for 40 days.
  • Seriously......God doesn't request that we give up anything. It's a personal choice that is done from Gratitude. Why is LENT such a 4 letter word......? Our world is a selfish world, the only time i ever heard "oh My God" in abundance was on 911. How amazing where we seek refuge when the real deal hits,..But then the same old , same old returns..................... and a new normal, turns into the old normal.

Might sound silly but I'm obsessed with the numbers on the scale. Thinking about giving up weighing myself during Lent. May not seem like a big deal to some but not weighing myself daily would be a serious will power for me.

Lent is a four letter word because it has, just go with me on this one, four letters.

Give up? Man f that. Eat a piece of chocolate every few days instead of giving it up and it will be helpful in your motivation.

I gave up soda one year (anything carbonated), and it actually stuck. I don't drink it anymore. I did a couple stints of trying diet sodas, but those even made me gain. Water, coffee, and tea for me about 95% of the time. :)

I gave up alcohol 2 months ago (and have dropped 12+lb since), so I'll have to think of something else.

Another idea, instead of giving up something, pick up a new (good) habit instead!

I'm not religious in the traditional sense, although technically I suppose I am Catholic. (I actually gave that up when I divorced my ex who made me convert "or else"...) But, I used to give up things like sugar, chocolate, soda... Since I don't drink soda and limit the others, what's left?

I will give up giving up... No more quitting. Yep. That works for me :drinker:

I'm giving up my laziness, I always find ways to distract myself from getting things done weather it be like right now where i'm at work and posting on this when I should actually be getting **** done before my morning meeting or when I'm at home and could squeeze that other workout in, or finish the dishes or laundry or even pick up random things in the house. I figured if I can occupy myself to stop being lazy when it comes to these it would be the best thing for me in the long run if I can turn it into a routine instead of something I try and avoid.
