Newby here!

Hello all! My name is Valerie, I reside in Michigan, and I’m overweight… I feel like garbage all the time and it is time for a change. Today is the beginning of my new life. In the past year I’ve accomplished so much, getting married, getting my Bachelor’s degree, buying a house, starting classes for my Masters, while managing to gain 35 lbs. (after already being 25 lbs. overweight). I never wanted to be that wife to let herself go, but it has happened. After having a doctor’s appointment yesterday, and getting lectured on how I’m not healthy and overweight, and not to mention being put on a diet, I have decided it’s time to turn my life around. I’m just not happy with myself right now, have definitely been out of control with my eating habits, and have gotten very lazy. I have achieved so much in the past year, I think it’s finally time to achieve one last thing (PUT THAT BAGEL DOWN!), that is to get down to a healthy weight and start eating healthier for the rest of my life. I know it’s going to be a long journey, and I also know that success is not a race and I have to be patient (patience is not in my vocabulary). I just hope I can dig deep down to find the strength to continue on my weight loss journey and hopefully make new friends and find great supporters here. So here’s to my success!

  • Welcome! I know how you feel! I look in the mirror and have no clue who is looking back at me. I hope to gain more patience as well, as this is not a skill I have mastered in my 37 years! My best to you!

    Welcome!!

It may seem like a long, tough journey...and it will be. BUT, the folks on MFP are so helpful and motivating, that once you get started, you're hooked! You can clearly do anything you put your mind to! So put your mind to this, and I know you'll succeed!!

    Feel free to add me!

    Good luck!
