How to get good cardio on the road?

Hello all. I'm a regional truck driver and I usually get my cardio workout from bike riding. The problem I have is sometimes I end up going on the road for 2-5 days and I can't take my bike with me. How can I get a good 20-45 min. cardio that will keep my heart rate at the 70% zone (for me 140-150)?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe a jump rope... it's small and easy to pack if you can find some space to do it.0

Do you stay with your truck? While it's parked you can go jogging or even just grab a jumprope. Jumping gets your heart rate way up FAST. I can't even go for 5 minutes straight.
If you stay in hotels, look for one with a gym, or even just a cheap motel to shower in after a jog.
Jogging is the way to go if you can handle it.0 -

I also love to ride but I'm not allowed to put a bike rack on my bus nor am I allowed to store it inside with passengers.....for obvious reasons. I do many day trips and am planning on getting a folding bike that will fit into the bus luggage compartment. Since I spend so much time in bike-friendly cities [like Philadelphia] it's a shame not to use it constructively so a folding bike is in my near future.0 -
Bring a kettlebell with you. You'll get an amazing strength and cardio workout0

Here is an easy interval routine you can do. you burn tons of cals and build muscle and it only takes 20 minutes. all you need is a timer (preferable a fancy one so you can set it to time 20 seconds of work, 10 sec rest).
Round 1
Jump rope (with high knees if you can, but no rope required, just pretend)
Jump for 20 seconds, rest for 10 (repeat 8 times for a total of 4 minutes)
Round 2
Jumping jacks
Jump for 20 seconds, rest for 10 (repeat 8 times for a total of 4 minutes)
Round 3
Lunges (lunge back and then as you step forward again, bring your knee all the way up as if you're going to touch your knee to your chest. Step back with the same leg for the entire 20 seconds, then switch legs on the next 20 second set)
Lunge for 20 seconds, rest for 10 (repeat 8 times for a total of 4 minutes)
Round 4
Burpees (Drop down to plank position, do a pushup, stand back up and then jump as high as you can. repeat).
"Burp" for 20 seconds, rest for 10 (repeat 8 times for a total of 4 minutes)
Round 5
Jump squats (Jump forward on both legs as far as you can and squat down as you land. Then, again on both legs, jump back to where you started in two small jumps).
Jump for 20 seconds, rest for 10 (repeat 8 times for a total of 4 minutes)
This workout is quick and incredibly challenging.0 -
Thanks linzi. That workout sounds great. Almost like the circuit training I'm doing but without the weights.
Thanks everybody.0 -
This is a REALLY good blog for intense 20 minute workouts requiring little to no equipment (usually only a pull-up bar or chair)

I use these sometimes when traveling and stuck in a hotel room.0 -
