Is it what you eat, or how much

Well first I thought it was both, first I would just control how much I ate, but last week I tried controlling what I ate and how much. The results? A complete difference. I was losing about 1-2 pounds a week with exercising and watching how much I ate. That first week I watched WHAT I ate, and how much, including exercise, I lost 4 pounds. Soooo, I think it was safe for me to say watching what you eat kinda helped me lose 2 more pounds than normal. O.O Twas awesome though.
