Inches VS Pounds, is there a balance?

I am losing Inches, which I love. But the scale is a stubborn machine that I do not rely on totally but wish it liked me. I began the day after Chrismas as soon as the extended visitors left the house. I have almost lost 4 pounds in that time frame. 5 inches in the waist and 2 inches at the spare tire on the hips. I really pay no mind to my thighs as they are not really that big from when I used to run more.
I do admit I struggle with the calories, how much I should actually eat. Every site and Dr has a different opinion. I do Cardio on average of 6 times a week. Anywhere from 60 mins to more. I wear a heart monitor to monitor not only Calories but I have a high heart rate in general, low BP and on Meds for both. I have to slow down more than speed up when I am doing my activities.
Is there a balance from when you see the scale moving a little more. I was really hoping for more that 4 pounds in 43 days. I see tickers move and progress reports counting the pounds. I am down a size, happy there but wondered if there was a balance between pounds and inches at all?

calories in < calories out = weight loss
Weight loss is 100% diet. Exercise can help on the calories out side of the equation but you can't out exercise a bad diet.
I'm not saying go crazy low calorie, use the MFP calculator or one of many out there and set a calorie goal. Make sure you understand what it means. Some figure in your exercise calories, others have you eating your exercise calories only if you earn them. Then set a reasonable deficit 1/2 to 1 lb a loss a week and go from there. Log every thing you put in your mouth at least at till you get a grip on things. You will be surprised how fast things add up and not have to wonder any more why your not making progress. Give any new routine a couple weeks to settle before making changes. If your not losing or not losing fast enough make minor tweaks until your at a calorie goal that you can sustain. It's going to be a long haul. This isn't going to be easy but if you want it you can do it.0 -

Not really. Go to the link above, input a height and weight only, and you will still see many different sizes and shapes of women. I used to be the same way. I've only lost about 2 pounds this month, but close to 3 inches. I'm learning that the inches>>>>>weight on the scale. Muscle take up less space than fat. You could be 150 in a size 4 if you're muscle, versus someone who has more body fat and wear a size 8, for example.0 -
Already do that. I log, feel like I am fine there and MFP ap is a lifesavor. I do not go over and admit I do not eat back my workout calories. My classes are late in the evening and when I come home I am not hungry at 9 pm. There have been a couple of times I ate crappy, but with restriction and in my goals. Example we had a girls lunch in Sunday at a Burger Bar. Menu sucked! I split a burger with someone at the table and had a side salad. Otherwise IF we eat out it is lean protein or possible Subway.
I drink no soda, no coffee, no tea. I exceed water mostly from habit. Like last night when I got home after a few classes and keyed in my monitor rates I had this '*You've earned 1236 extra calories from exercise today' no way I can re-eat those at night.0 -
I'd rather lose inches than weight, personally, but I do still weigh in. I haven't had any inches lost so far but my endurance is definitely increasing so I'm happy about that.0

I'd rather lose inches than weight, personally, but I do still weigh in. I haven't had any inches lost so far but my endurance is definitely increasing so I'm happy about that.
