Those who are nearly, or are, at your goal

To those of you who have reached your goal (or are nearly there), what one thing do you wish you'd started earlier in the weight loss journey?

More strength? More cardio? A food you wish you'd discovered earlier?

I wish I discovered the TDEE way of calculating calories instead of what MFP set for me.

I wished I'd be really accurate with logging from the beginning. Weight, not volume, no using other people's recipes or "generic" whatever from the database.

I also wish I'd started lifting sooner, but that was a medical thing.
  • The weight of food is so important - couldn't believe what an actual 30g bowl of cereal looked like in comparison to what I'd been having!

Low carb. I might not have lost much more than I have, but it sure would have been easier without all those horrible daily cravings.

Higher fat, and coconut oil to get there. And lifting weights. And patience.

I wish I started lifting weights and being active/fit when I was around 17 or earlier, instead of waiting till my 30's. I did a lot of stuff that was arguably unnecessary or "bro-sciencey" at the beginning, but I never did anything THAT weird, and I have no regrets. One of the best decisions I made in my entire life was to get healthy and fit.

No regrets about how I did it. I just wish I had discovered the ritual of tracking my food earlier in life. It would have saved me 10 years of being overweight.

This so I didn't have to eat like a bird for all those months.

I wish my mother had told me about our family history of thyroid disease before she died, so I would have been on the lookout for it. I also wish I had discovered intermittent fasting earlier. Other than that, my journey's been amazing, and I couldn't have asked for better results!

I wish I started weighing my portions when I began

I wish I started at a higher calorie amount than what MFP gave me.

I wish I started lifting weight sooner.

I wish I realized how much going out and drinking with my friends was detrimental too my success :)

I'm about one pound away from my goal. I've lost ten pounds and I wouldn't change a thing. One distinct feature of my weight loss has been that the last three months have been S L O W and this only makes me feel all the more confident that I will be able to Maintain once I reach my goal.

Ok I didn't lift and my cardio is limited. If I could have I would have. I'm not muscular, in fact I am losing muscle mass as we speak but i love my clothes, how they fit, how i can still look sexy when i layer (imo), and how they fit. There are medical reasons for my muscle loss and if I could lift I would have. But I am extremely proud of myself for tracking and losing during a rather difficult time in my life.

Nothing, actually. The reason I hit my goal was because I learned as I went and just continued to build upon what I learned.
