Do I Have to take a rest day?

I hate taking them, point blank. I am currently rotating through Jillian Michaels DVDs. Its make me not want to get back in my swing when its all said and done. I don't like that. I feel very icky by the end of the day as well and a little guilty from not working out.

It is suggested you take rest days. I dont like to take them- i just do something light on those days.

Rest day doesn't mean sit around and do nothing. You can be active just don't be as intense as you normally would. Your body does need to rest. Go for a hike or to the park or for a bike ride or something.

I enjoy them. As mentioned, it doesn't mean you have to sit on the couch all night. Mine usually include a nice long walk with the dog :)

I try to do yoga on my rest days. It still keeps me active, and getting more flexible helps me with my regular workouts. I like the P90X yoga, it feels like more of a workout than some of the hatha yoga videos I've tried, although those are good on days that I'm feeling particularly tired.
  • I just make sure I don't work the same muscle groups two days in a row. I don't necessarily have a "rest" day but once in a while I'll have a day where I just do cardio.
