Constantly thinking of food

I am constantly thinking of food and eating today. Is my body trying to tell me something? Do any of you have similar days when all you can think of is food?

I am on Nutrisystem and use some flexibility within that program by portion control and regular exercise.

Food...on my mind today even though I had a good lunch and still feel full. Sigh!

I am not on any system, just the calorie counting thing. I try to eat high protein because that fills me up lots.

After a few days of high protein I get a craving for something like a slice of bread....sometimes on the high protein I get a craving for chicken....sometimes I get a craving for butter.

I think it is a mind thing that we sometimes crave stuff that we haven`t eaten in a while...I just go with it, eat it and move on.
  • Sometimes I think about food like I used to think about smoking when I was quitting.
  • I am on a fast day today and struggling more than I ever have. That means I think about food constantly, sometimes even halluciinate about it! I am not going to give in though. Personally, I think it's worse if I've done a lot of exercise and not been able to eat much... I am hoping this will fade! Good luck. Maybe a little bit of what you crave might help?

Are you eating too little? If you are it can backfire so better to eat a bit more and get to goal.

I think about food all the time, I just don't act on it. I think it's weird if you aren't thinking about food.

I do when I'm changing my diet up. If I've had something really sugary the day before, or if I have to skip my usual coffee, my cravings drive me nuts.

Yes I think about food a lot. Never noticed how much until I started counting calories, now I think about it all the time! Either foods that I want to eat, foods that I have eaten, or foods I should eat. I guess its important we kind of need to eat! lol

When you go from eating everything you want to restricting yourself, it's pretty normal to become a little obsessed with food. Not to mention that, when you're eating at a calorie deficit, your body still wants you to eat enough to maintain its current weight.

Planning your day's menu in advance may help. That way, you're not always wondering what you're going to have next.
  • Yes..food is on my mind too...especially when I am bored or have down time.

It helps to have alot of things to do to keep my mind off of food. But if I am hungry, it will stay on my mind til
I quiet my stomach a little.
  • I'm in the same boat. i'm not hungery, I just like food. I try to remind myself that food, while enjoyable, is to supply the body with energy, not pleasure!

Sometimes find myself constantly thinking of food as well, but don't think it is hunger related more a side effect of having to log/consider calories etc as part of this process for me at least... Tough to tell, chicken or egg.

I find pre-planning meals the day before or better yet bulk cooking in advance for several days then storing/freezing takes a lot of the thoughts away though. Can save quite a bit of money too and give you the opportunity to try out new meal ideas!!

You probably keep thinking about food because you are eating crap from a cardboard box. That's not food.
