Hanging in there.....

Ok, so I've been back at this for a little over a month now. I am consistently under my calorie goal with a couple of exceptions and I haven't lost weight. In fact I've gained weight. I exercise 3-4 times a week and I have recently moved into a new position at work that does not allow me to sit and eat like I used to. Please someone help me and give me some encouragement.

I've looked at your diary, and yes you may be under your calorie goal, but what you are eating is crap.

Ditch the slim fast and diet foods.. they do nothing for you. Eat lean protein, fruits/veggies, grains, etc.

Also, how are you estimating calories burned? You may not be burning as many as you think, which could lead to weight gain.
May be eating too much sodium and not drinking enough water, which can lead to weight gain.
May not be eating enough, which can lead to weight gain.

There are a lot of reasons why you can gain weight.
  • have to agree, went through a week of your diary and not one item of "real" food.
though many people will say "calories in, calories out" I don't see how anyone can eat nothing but canned/boxed/frozen and fast food no fresh anything, no veg, no fruit, no lean protein, and still ask that.
  • I also looked at your food diary. I would have to agree with the other poster. Try to eat more raw veggies and lean protein: ) It seem like you had a lot of white breads, crackers, and things in those groups that maybe aren't the best choices for snacks. I understand it can be hard to make those better choices, but even at Jimmy John's a Turkey Tom Unwich with no mayo and mustard is a great sub with not many calories that fills the urge for one of their great sands! My suggestion, tweek your choices a bit and you will see results! KEEP IT UP!!

Yes you are under your calories most of the time but I'm betting you are still hungry because you aren't eating very much, just fast food and slim fast shakes mostly. Eat more fresh foods like fruit and veggie, nuts, proteins of any sort, dairy, whole grains etc... and as was said before all that sodium could be causing you to retain water.

Like most of the others, I see surprisingly little real food, and lots of junk.

I'm also surprised that you're not tracking carbs.

I'm not about to recommend what kind of eating plan to follow for what you want to accomplish, but tracking carbs/fats/protein would be a good idea, so you can see what kind of balance you're getting in your intake. Sugars is included in carbs, but sugars does not show starches and complex carbs.

My weight loss is a result of tracking my carb intake so I can limit it to a net of about 50g/day. That's total carbs minus fiber to get net carbs.
