Hey

Hey, I'm in my 20's and wanting to lose weight. I realized today that I weigh 147lbs. I gained 7lbs and didn't even notice. The kicker is I was already trying to lose weight. I've been off and on keeping track of what I eat on here, I don't deviate much day to day. The only excuse I can find is that it is winter and I've been exercising less. I already eat low-fat and fat-free food and lean meat. The only useful thing I could cut out of my diet it sweets (which the majority I eat are low-fat or fat-free, or low-cal). The rest of the year I walk and ride my bike every day. I used to teach dance, but I haven't done that in a while and I recently got hired to teach Zumba and ballet at a studio but no one is attending my classes, so, I really haven't been doing that. I attend three yoga classes a week, so it isn't like I'm not doing anything.

  • I eat are low-fat or fat-free, or low-cal. Maybe this is your problem. Low fat or fat free means more carbs and sugar in your diet. Maybe not sugar like what you add to coffee but all the sugar that comes mixed in foods. Flavor comes from fat or sugar. If you take all the fat out how do you flavor it?

Low cal? How low? Sounds like your pretty active so you should be eating at least 1,800 a day. 147 isn't really high, how tall are you?
  • Thanks for the reply. I'm 5'4"

I still live with my parents and I don't earn enough to pay for my own groceries, so I am limited to what they buy and my mom always buys the "diet" version of things.

Edit: I usually eat, sweet wise, those Skinny Cow chocolate clusters. I have a really bad habit of feeling like I need to eat something sweet after lunch and dinner.

Hi there! I recommend logging your food consistently everyday, as well as measuring out all of your portions to ensure you are eating the right amounts. Also, if you have been doing yoga regularly for a while it is time to switch up your workout routine. Your body needs a change in your fitness routine. Try a spin class or a Body Pump (weight lifting) class.

At a guess, I'd say you're probably not eating enough. It sounds counter-intuitive, but your body will go into starvation mode, especially if you're active, and start storing fat instead of burning it.
