Introducing myself!

Hello! I am Michelle, a 26 year old resident of beautiful Lake Tahoe. I have actually been on the weight loss kick for a while. I realized last October that I had gained close to 45 pounds after moving and becoming comfortable. I had always been naturally slim so it was difficult to get the ball rolling on eating right and excercising. With Weight Watchers and increased excercise I have been able to take off 20 pounds. I am now focusing more on excercise. I have a great "mother-in-law" (my boyfriend's mom) who is a fantastic distance cyclist and wonderful inspiration for eating right who is on here as well. We have together started running, trying to train for a half marathon. I just need to find a balance where I am getting enough calories to support my excercise (currently running 7-10 miles a week, biking 35 miles to and from work, and 30 miles additional) but not overindulging. I like tracking because i can set myself up for the whole day at once. I am glad to see so many "losers" here and hope that the inspiration and plan will help me take off another 15 pounds!

Can I just say I'm jealous of where you live? I've been to Tahoe twice and I love it there! I think it would be a lot less difficult to get out and run if you have a view like that nearby!
Anyways welcome, and best of luck to you! My mom's been working with me and some of my friends as she's a marathoner, and only picked up running after she's turned 40! At 52 years of age, she's completed 11 marathons, including Boston twice as a qualifier (not a charity runner) and turned in her best time last month at just under 4 hours!

Hi Michele! I must say you sound like an inspiration yourself: training for a marathon, biking, 20lbs gone. Welcome to the site! I know you will be successful at this!0

Thanks everyone! I am training for a marathon but in the very, very early stages. Tahoe IS beautiful but I have missed out on alot of the outdoor activities cause I was in such stinking bad shape for a while. I must say that in addition to being in good shape, I started excercising at first just to be able to eat a bit more during the day!0
